Lasiolopha
Turner
Type
species: saturata
Walker, Sri Lanka.
The dark green forewings and brown hindwings are similar to those of some genera
in the ‘careine’ sequence, but the male genitalia are distinct,
having more in common with the genera preceding and immediately following. The
venation is similar to that of the latter sequence. The male has a complex, subcostal, scaled structure at the base of the forewing on the underside
associated with the retinaculum.
The male abdomen lacks basal tymbal structures. The basal margin of the eighth
tergite is deeply cleft, that of the sternite only very slightly so. The
genitalia have a short uncus and a moderate saccus. The valves are rather
paddle-like and have a costal process. They lack scent pencils or coremata, but
the costal half has rows of peg-like setae. The aedeagus vesica has a scattering
of small cornuti.
The female has a sclerotised ductus that tapers basally to the ostium, and is
scobinate at the point it joins the bursa. The bursa is small, bulbous basally,
narrower and more flimsy distally.
The genus is monobasic, and the biology of the only species is described
below.
