This tribe has male tymbal
features similar to thos of the Chloephorini, and the male genitalia, though
somewhat similar to those of the Careini discussed next, also resemble those of
Chloroplaga of the Chloephorini. The larva has a bisetose subventral
group on thoracic segments, a supposedly arctiid feature seen also in the
Eariadinae and Selepa Moore as reviewed by Holloway
(1988, 1998). The tymbal
Selepa Moore
organs
have three robust carinae (see also Parasinna) and an unusual
club-like structure on each side. The virtual restriction to Fagaceae (Castanea,
Castanopsis, Lithocarpus, Quercus) as larval hosts
(Robinson et al., 2001) is also a feature common to some genera of the
Chloephorini; Robinson et al. also note a record from Rubus (Rosaceae),
however.
