Diagnosis. The forewings are purplish red-brown with straight, transverse
fasciae, diverging slightly towards the dorsum, that divide the wing into
thirds. Each fascia is edged on the basal side by silvery grey that fades away
basad.
Taxonomic note.
The holotype of padangensis matches
verticata closely. The species illustrated as padangensis by Kobes
(1997: Plate VIII: 284) is possibly
X. trilineata
Warren.
Geograpical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. Only four Bornean specimens have been seen, singletons
taken at 1000m in lower montane forest on G. Mulu, and (in USNM) from 20 km
(without altitude) east of Telupid in Sabah, and two from lowland dipterocarp
forest in the Barito Ulu of Kalimantan.
