Druce
Carea viridipennis Druce, 1911, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (8), 8: 150.
Lasionotella viridipennis Druce; Kobes, 1997: 160.
Diagnosis. The typical Didigua pattern of the forewing is strongly
variegated and tinged variably with brown or green. The hindwings are a dull,
dark, rather vinous red, a colour that extends over all the wings on the
underside. The hindwing of the male has a fringe of fawn scales at the dorsum.
The abdomen has double pouches on tergites 5-7 much as in the previous three
species, and the aedeagus vesica and the female genitalia are also similar.
Geographical range. Borneo, Sumatra.
Habitat preference. The species was taken in numbers in the area of dry
heath forest at Telisai (15m) in the lowlands of Brunei. The holotype is from
the island of Labuan. Sumatran records are mostly from higher altitudes.
