Diagnosis. The irregularly bifalcate, green forewings with an arcuate
submarginal fascia, combined with the rusty reddish (male) or orange (female)
hindwings render this species highly distinctive. It has a pale inner edging to
the forewing submarginal that distinguishes it from virida and
gonophora.
Geographical range. Sumatra, Java, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat preference. This is a montane species, recorded over an altitude
range of 1200m to 2600m on G. Kinabalu and from between 1600m and 1700m on Bukit
Retak and Bukit Pagon in Brunei. The lowest record was from 900m on G. Api, the
only specimen taken during the Mulu survey.
