Chloroplaga nygmia Swinhoe
Acontia nygmia Swinhoe, 1893, Ann. Mag.
nat. Hist. (6),
12: 217.
Chloroplaga nygmia Swinhoe; Holloway, 1976: 28.
Chloroplaga nygmia barlowi Kobes, 1997: 76.
Diagnosis. The hooked green mark of the centre of the
forewing is much broader than in the next species, where it is usually also
broken into two patches. C. nygmia also has strong sexual dimorphism, the
males being much darker than the females; both sexes of the next species are
coloured as in nygmia females.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra (ssp. barlowi).
Habitat preference. Most records are from a range of lowland habitats, but
the species has been taken more rarely up to 1790m. The species appears to be
commoner than the next.
