Diagnosis. The
gold and green coloration to the marginally bidentate forewings is distinctive.
The hindwings are typically dull rufous yellow.
Taxonomic note.
Bornean material consists of typical specimens with rufous hindwings and
slightly smaller ones with pale greenish white hindwings. No marked difference
was noted in the genitalia, but these forms are found in both sexes rather than
being sexual dimorphism as originally suggested by Holloway (1976). Sumatran
males are much darker overall, with dark grey rather than yellowish hindwings.
The status of all this variation requires further investigation.
Geographical range.
Borneo, Sumatra.
Habitat preference.
All Bornean material is from G. Kinabalu and its vicinity, taken
infrequently over an altitude range from 1500m to 2200m.
