"Gelastocera"
viridimacula
Diagnosis. The facies is somewhat similar to that of Beara but
distinguished by the white-edged green patch at the base of the forewing costa.
Taxonomic note. This species rests uneasily in Gelastocera, as
features of the male genitalia, as with the facies, are closer to those of
Beara; however, the aedeagus vesica is much larger with diverticula and
scobination, and the female has a large bursa that is also extensively finely
scobinate.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference.
The species is rare, all four records in recent
surveys being from lowland dipterocarp forest from 30m to 450m (Ulu Temburong
and Labi in Brunei; at the foot of G. Mulu in Sarawak).
