Risoba sp.
Risoba
prominens
Moore sensu Martini & Thöny, 1993, and Chey, 1994.
The
specimen identified as prominens by Martini & Thöny (800m, Sipulut, Sabah)
appears from their illustration not to be referable to either prominens
or obstructa, perhaps resembling the latter more closely. The basal part
of the hindwing and the thorax appear distinctly whiter, and the hindwing border
is narrower, particularly towards the tornus, and better defined. On the
forewing, there is a sinuous black submarginal band that appears much stronger
and more definite than equivalent markings in obstructa. Chey (1994)
noted prominens as present in secondary and plantation forests in the
lowlands of Sabah but, in view of the difficulty in identifying species, these
records need checking by dissection.
