Diagnosis.
The forewings are very dark brown, the central fasciae standing out paler on either side of the medial zone, more definite than the more basal or distal ones, which are multiple, dark, crenulate. Females are much larger with similar fasciation on a paler ground colour.

Taxonomic notes. Typical Javan specimens have the strong fasciae bounding the medial zone angled centrally rather than uniformly curved, the more basal of the two more sharply so.

Geographical range. N. Thailand, Sundaland.

Habitat preference. The species is most frequent in lowland rainforest but has been taken as high as 1618m on Bukit Retak in Brunei.
