Smerinthulus terranea
(.90 natural size)

Diagnosis.
See Cypa decolor Walker. Some specimens have greyish forewings, rather than greenish brown ones (e.g. as illustrated by Diehl (1980)); these may be faded.

Taxonomic notes. The male genitalia of brooksi illustrated by Jordan (1931:242)
are very similar to those of terranea from Borneo: the setose process on the valve is slightly larger and the spines on the aedeagus apex are less developed than in Bornean specimens. Nevertheless the taxa are undoubtedly conspecific. Diehl (1980) subordinated duponti to brooksi.

Geographical range. Sundaland.

Habitat preference. This is probably a rare lowland species but the specimen taken on the Mulu survey was from lower montane forest on limestone.
