Hyperaeschrella producta Kiriakoff
comb. n.
Kumataia
producta Kiriakoff,
1967: 56; 1968: 200.
Diagnosis. This species is identified by forewings with a strongly produced apex
and a pattern that is basally dark brown, distally pale brown with darker
striations, with a pale patch also in the discal area.
Taxonomic note. Despite the unusual wing pattern, this species has male genitalia barely
distinguishable from those of the previous species, and therefore it is more
informative to treat them as congeneric. Hence Kumataia Kiriakoff is here
placed as a junior synonym of Hyperaeschrella Strand, syn. n.
Geographical range. Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The five Bornean specimens seen are all from lowland
localities, both Mulu survey specimens being from rain forest on limestone.
