Peridea Stephens
Peridea albipuncta Gaede
comb. n.
Notodonta
albipuncta Gaede,
1930: 641; Kiriakoff 1968: 173.
Diagnosis. See Neostauropus major; albipuncta is a large
species with a rather uniform, rich brown forewing bearing pale discal stigmata.
Taxonomic note. The external appearance of the species has more in common with taxa in Peridea
than with those in Notodonta. The male genitalia resemble those of P.
interrupta Kiriakoff from China in having the uncus bifid.
Geographical range. Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species was taken infrequently in lower and upper
montane forest on the limestone G. Api during the Mulu survey. A single specimen
has been taken at 1670 m on Bukit Pagon, Brunei.
