Lymantria
rhabdota Collenette
Lymantria rhabdota Collenette,
1949, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (12), 1: 728.
Diagnosis. The forewings are much more darkly clouded than in inordinata, particularly
over the basal half, and the hindwings are more concolorous with the forewing
ground, and with an irregular submarginal band of darker brown. The female is
illustrated by Schintlmeister (1994). It is somewhat similar to the male but
appears greyer, with the forewing more uniformly suffused blackish.
Taxonomic note. Bornean specimens are larger and more heavily marked than typical ones
from the rest of the range.
Geographical range. Sundaland.
Habitat preference. This is an uncommon species of lowland forest.
