"Euproctis” albolyclene sp.
n.
10-12mm,
16mm. Both sexes are mostly white,
resembling the female of lyclene, though possibly (the type of lyclene
is worn) with more extensive yellow at the base of the forewing, and with
the discal fascia more angled, less oblique. The male genitalia are relatively
larger, the aedeagus basally more swollen. The ductus in the female is also
longer but narrower, the bursa larger.
Holotype . SARAWAK: Gunung Mulu Nat. Park, R.G.S. Exped. 1977-8 (J.D. Holloway
et al.) Site 20, Mar.-Apr. W. Melinau Gorge, 150m, 422577, FEG3, kerangas,
BM lymantriid slide 2528.
Paratypes: 11 2 (slide 2542) as
holotype; 3 as holotype but site 22, April, 421578,
wet kerangas.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. Most material was taken in wet heath forest (kerangas)
in the lowlands or a nearby locality. One specimen is from lower montane forest
at 1000m, and another from slightly higher on G. Poi (Poeh); these are not
included in the type series.
