Sundaroa
celaenostola Collenette comb. n.
Aroa celaenostola Collenette, 1932, Novit. zool., 37:
171.
Aroa celaenostola Collenette; Holloway, 1976: 51.
Diagnosis and taxonomic note. See Sundaroa sexmacula
Swinhoe comb.n for comments on the possible
female and synonymy. The species is based on males only that are distinguished
from transflava Holloway by the interuption of the oblique, pale yellow
forewing band by the discal dot and a more diffuse intrusion of black
subtornally. The male genitalia have the uncus much longer and more sinuous, and
the spilling at the aedeagus apex is more robust. The valves are much narrower
and longer.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. All old material is from G. Kinabalu except one
specimen from Mt Dulit: none has altitude data. Material recorded by Holloway
(1976) was taken flying by day at around 1500-1600m.
