8-10mm. The facies is like a darker, browner, version of that of eva,
but with the distal border of the dark area of the forewing clearer and with
a definite central projection. The hindwing yellow border is narrow, more or
less restricted to the fringes. The uncus of the male genitalia is long, with
neither a rugose protrusion nor a bifid structure. The valves are similar to
those of rufalba, and the saccular flap is also well developed and setose,
though straight and narrow, rather than sinuous.
Holotype . MALAYSIA: Sabah, Danum Valley, 170m, 4º 58N, 117º 48E, (S.J.
Willott), 1º Understorey, Obs. Platform, DVFC, 23.ix.93, BM lymantriid
slide 2564.
Paratypes: 1 SABAH: Danum Valley, Borneo Rainforest Lodge, 10.8.97, Rothamsted
light-trap; 1 (slide 2563) BRUNEI: 30-60m,
Labi, lowland forest and
secondary veg., 12.4.81 (Lt. Col. M.G. Allen). There is also a worn
female from the last locality.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. All material is from lowland forest.
