Nygmia dirtea Swinhoe
comb. n.
Euproctis dirtea Swinhoe, 1905, Ann. Mag. nat.
Hist. (7), 15: 151.
Diagnosis. The species is only known from males. These resemble fumosa in
forewing facies, though the grey shading is more general, of a browner tone, and
distinctly intensified in antemedial and postmedial fasciae. The hindwings are
predominantly pale yellow rather than just marginally so. The male
genitalia have the valves less divided, the margin more serrated.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The only two specimens, including the holotype, are
from Kuching in the lowlands of Sarawak.
