Diagnosis and taxonomic
note. This species was described from
a single male (not dissected) from Sumatra with pale dull yellow forewings,
whitish hindwings and venation typical of the genus. A series of four females
from Borneo also shows these features, but no male was associated (one male
specimen of similar facies had bipectinate antennae and different venation,
though the genitalia were not dissimilar from those of Holocraspedon; slide
5005, Fig. 347). The genitalia (slides 5006, 5010) of these females are
also consistent with placement in the genus, with a coarsely scobinate corpus
bursae and a distinct appendix bursae. Three were from the Poring and Trus Madi
localities where male Notata parva were taken (see
Holocraspedon vaneeckei sp.n) and probably
represent the females. The fourth (slide 5006) is slightly larger with browner
hindwings. It might be the female of H. flava, but the genitalia are very
similar to those of parva.
Geographical range. Sumatra,
?Borneo.
Habitat preference. The
single female was taken at 1700m on Bukit Pagon in Brunei.
