13-14mm. The facies is
similar to that of nigricauda except the abdomen is straw-coloured, and
the modified scales at the base of the forewing (the more distal row extending
back from the costa in nigricauda is vestigial here) are edged darkish,
giving an appearance of a shallow step. The male genitalia have the apex of the
dorsal part of the valve more sinuous than in nigricauda, and the
saccular process ends in a slightly angled setose club that lacks the larger
spines seen in nigricauda. The saccus membrane is unadorned, whereas
there is a basal pair of hair-pencils and faint central bands of scobination in nigricauda.
