Lyclene apiseriata sp.
n.
8-9mm. The species is larger
than biseriata (7mm), with a central fascia present on the forewing, but
with all markings less clearly defined, though there is a streak at the hindwing
apex not seen in biseriata. The genitalia have the valves broader,
including the apical part, and the spur of the right saccular process is
distinctly subapical. A specimen in USNM from 1530m 1km south of Kundasang on
the slopes of G. Kinabalu has male genitalia as in apiseriata but in
combination with reduction of the wing markings to the submarginal series; it is
illustrated on above, second specimen, but not included in the type series.

Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. All
material in the type series is from lower montane forest on limestone; the other
specimen discussed is also from a montane locality.
