Amphitorna
perexcisa Warren
Neoreta perexcisa Warren, 1923, Gross-Schmett. Erde, 10:
477.
Cyclura perexcisa Warren; Holloway, 1976: 92.
Diagnosis. The antennae of this and the next species are broadly bipectinate in
both sexes, and the hooking of the hindwing margin and forewing postmedial is
less extreme than in excisa, that of the postmedial rather more quadrate
in the next species, a slightly paler, browner insect. The facies of perexcisa
is more purplish on the upperside and reddish rather than ochreous yellow on
the underside, but the two species can only reliably be distinguished from the
genitalia.
Geographical range. Sundaland.
Habitat preference. Only two Bornean specimens have been seen, males
from Samarinda in the lowlands of Kalimantan and from 1618m on Bukit Retak in
Brunei.
