25-27mm. In facies
this species resembles fraterna Moore but is larger, with the anterior
spot on the hindwing tail strong and diagnostically recurrent on the underside.
The black marginal line either side of the tail spots and, less so, on the
forewing is also strong. The male genitalia resemble those of fraterna with
the digitate costal process set on a slight angle on the margin, but the process
itself is shorter, broader. The lower pair of lobes on the juxta is relatively
shorter, and the aedeagus is longer. In the female the signum has the paired
components separated by an unsclerotised band, and the components themselves
each taper away in a tail towards the base of the bursa. The corpus bursae
itself is narrower.
