Agathia
quinaria Moore
Agathia quinaria Moore, 1867, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond. 1867:
39.
Agathia hilarata latilimes Prout,
1916, Novit. zool. 23: 20, syn. n.
Diagnosis. See Agathia
laetata Fabricius and diagnosis of Agathia
largita sp. n.
Taxonomic notes. The male genitalia of latilimes resemble
those of quinaria rather than those of hilarata Guenée (see
illustrations in Holloway & Sommerer (1984)) and therefore this taxon should
be treated as the Sundanian race of quinaria. The ventral process of the
valve apex is more acutely produced in typical Javan latilimes than in
Bornean specimens.
Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya; Sundaland (ssp. latilimes).
Habitat preference. The species is encountered infrequently
in lowland forest, with one specimen being taken at 1000m on G. Mulu.
