Eucyclodes
discata Warren comb. n.
Chlorostrota discata Warren,
1897, Novit. zool. 4: 389.
Osteosema discata Warren; Holloway, 1976: 61.
Diagnosis. See
comments on charma and textiloides above. The white markings are
slightly cream coloured in tone and the forewing discal spot below is strongly
blackened (weakly or not at all in the other two species).
Taxonomic notes. E. benguetensis Prout
comb. & stat. n. from the Philippines is genitalically
distinct from discata, not a subspecies as originally described. Only
females of benguetensis are known: the ductus and bursa are longer and
the sterigma is diagnostically pocket-like.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species is infrequent in the upper
montane zone from 1500m to 2110m, though a single specimen was taken in lower
montane forest at 900m on the limestone G. Api, and another at 300m in Ulu
Temburong, Brunei.
