Gelasma waterstradti Prout;
Holloway, 1976: 62.
Diagnosis. This is a large species with facies as in many Hemithea. The
margins are rather undulate, edged finely but irregularly in red. The ground
colour is pale green, grading darker on the basal side of the postmedials.
Taxonomic notes. Maxates
subannulata Prout comb. n. from Sulawesi is
similar in facies and in the general structure of the male genitalia.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species was described from G. Kinabalu, but with no altitude
data. Recent surveys have yielded singletons from G. Kinabalu at 1620m and from
900m in lower montane forest in the limestone G. Api in the G. Mulu National
Park.
