Herochroma clariscripta sp. n.
Herochroma clariscripta
(paratype) |
|
20-28mm,
23mm. In facies this species resembles flavibasalis but
the green speckling is darker, duller, and the fasciae more crisply delineated
on the upperside, especially the forewing discal spot, picked out more
distinctly with grey. The species is most reliably distinguished by the male
genitalia: the apical part of the valve is more slender, obtusely angled rather
than sinuous; the costal process is straighter, more slender; the quadrate apex
to the gnathus is twice as long. The eighth sternite of the abdomen is only
slightly centrally sclerotised on its distal margin rather than having a short,
irregular projection centrally as in flavibasalis.
