Cossus speideli sp. n.
15-16mm. The forewing is greyish white in ground
colour with a diagnostic pinkish grey triangular zone based on the dorsum and
black and grey punctation on the veins throughout; there is a particularly
conspicuous but irregular submarginal row of dots. The male antennae are as in
the previous two species. The genitalia have the uncus rather narrow, the valve
simple and the basal spine rounded rather than acute apically.

Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The single Bornean specimen was taken on the lower
slopes of G. Mulu by Hose.
