Diagnosis. See Allothosea montana sp. n.
and the taxonomic note.
Taxonomic notes. The species is very similar in facies to A. lateritia Hering
comb. n. (= basistriga Hering syn. n.; Peninsular Malaysia, Java) This
differs mainly in the male genitalia where the aedeagus vesica has a much
smaller apical cornutus and a row of many fine ones between the more basal,
irregular group within the aedeagus. This row of cornuti is more irregular and
the individual spines longer than in montana.
Geographical range. Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra.
Habitat preference. The species has been taken only in the lowlands and
mostly from rainforest.
Biology. The type material of basistriga Hering, a junior synonym of lateritia
Hering, the sister species of lola, was reared from tea (Camellia, Theaceae).
No larval description has been located.
