Diagnosis. This is the largest and most striking of the Plutodes-like species,
with the dark areas of the wings strikingly bordered vinous red and
centred with dark and ashy grey. The circular patch at the forewing apex
does not reach the margin and has a transverse dark zig-zag across the
centre.
Geographical range. Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia.
Habitat preference. All Bornean material is from lowland localities
including the island of Labuan, and Kuching in Sarawak, but it has been
taken at 610m in Peninsular Malaysia.
