Chrysocraspeda
dipyramida Prout comb. n.
Heteroctenis dipyramida Prout,
1918, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (9), 1: 22.
Diagnosis. The ground colour is pale yellow, almost completely shaded by grey
(females) or stippled red with a red border in a Plutodes-like pattern.
The hindwing margin is angled centrally, unlike in other species sharing
this pattern, and there is an arcuate fine, dark, discal line.
Taxonomic notes. Males and females are tentatively associated here, given that some other
species in the genus are sexually dimorphic, and the sexes share the
angled hindwing margin and general shape of the dark shading. The holotype
is female.
Geographical range. S. Burma, Borneo.
Habitat preference. This is a lowland species, female specimens have been
taken 85 miles inland from Pontianak in Kalimantan. The putative males are
from dipterocarp forest in Ulu Temburong, Brunei, and the Danum Valley
Field Centre, Sabah.
