Diagnosis. This and the next two species show a degree of sexual dimorphism, with
reddish or grey markings on a pale yellow ground. S. vinosa is
distinguished by the two straight, transverse, yellow bars on the
forewings. In the female the intervening areas are more completely shaded
with grey (more blotchy red in the male).
Geographical range. Borneo, Sumatra (Heterocera Sumatrana colln),
Peninsular Malaysia (FRIM colln).
Habitat preference. Only old material has been seen, from lowland
localities such as Elopura, now Sandakan, on the east coast of Sabah.
