Diagnosis. Only males are known with certainty, instantly recognisable from the
extreme modification to both fore- and hindwings as illustrated and described in
the generic account.
Taxonomic notes. The typical race has an irregular dark brown crescent in the centre of
the dorsal area of the forewing.
Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya, Peninsular Malaysia; Borneo (ssp. expunctor).
Habitat preference. The holotype of expunctor was taken at Kenokok
(1000m) in the vicinity of G. Kinabalu. The species is rare in Borneo.
