Anisodes pyrrhocrica Prout,

(holotype) |
|
Diagnosis. See Perixera dotilla Swinhoe
comb. n.: the forewing discal dot in combination with a
large orange hindwing one provides the best discrimination.
Taxonomic notes. The male has slender coremata on the fourth sternite but not basal to
the genitalia. The costal process of the valve is well developed, upcurved
dorsally. The genitalia are very similar to those of P. subsimilis Warren
(Sulawesi), but this has only a very small hindwing discal spot. A taxon of this
genitalia type also occurs in Hong Kong (A. Galsworthy, pers. comm.). Further
east the group is represented by P. mesocupha Prout comb. n. (S. Moluccas)
and species such as P. subalbescens Warren comb. rev, in New Guinea.
Geographical range. Borneo, Sumatra, Singapore, Tonkin.
Habitat preference. This is possibly a montane species with older
material from G. Murud (type locality) and the Poeh Mts. in Sarawak. More
recently a singleton was taken at 1465m on Bukit Retak in Brunei and another at
150m in wet heath forest (kerangas) on a river terrace just west of the Melinau
Gorge in Sarawak.
