Syncosmia dissographa Prout comb. n

Chloroclystis dissographa Prout, 1958, Bull. Br. Mus. nat. Hist. (Ent.), 6:421.

Chloroclystis dissographa Prout; Holloway, 1976: 69.

Syncosmia dissographa
(paratype, Bali) (x 1.47)

Diagnosis. The species could be confused with the next two, having forewings with brown fasciation on a bone-white ground, but the fasciae are less clearly defined and there is more general brown suffusion basally and subapically. The hindwing dorsum is scrolled upwards in the male.

Taxonomic notes. S. dissographa appears to be the sister-species of the generic type species. Both species have rather sinuous octavals and narrow, elongate labides. There is more general spining in the basal half of the lower, sinuous, tubular section of the bursa in the female from Borneo, compared to one from Sulawesi.

Geographical range. Sulawesi, Borneo, Java, Bali.

Habitat preference. Only a single female had been recorded from Borneo, from 1200m in a disturbed and cultivated area at Bundu Tuhan on the slopes of G. Kinabalu. More recently the species has been taken in a similar habitat at the same altitude at Kundasang (Herbulot colln).
