Diagnosis. This is a smaller species than polyclealis, a similar grey but with less angled, diffuse white postmedials and no white spots more distally on the hindwing. That on the forewing is edged black basad. The thorax and costal zone of the facies have a rufous tinge.

Taxonomic notes. Only females are known.

Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya; Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo (ssp. tranquillata).

Habitat preference. Three specimens have been collected in recent surveys: in lowland forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre, Sabah; at 1000m (lower montane zone) on G. Mulu; without altitude data on G. Kinabalu.
