Gonanticlea occlusata

Gonanticlea occlusata

Diagnosis. This and the next species are easily confused. The forewing postmedial of G. amplior Thierry-Mieg is more irregular in course, distinctly indented subcostally. In the female the broad border to the medial bar is obtusely dentate in amplior, almost straight in occlusata. The underside of amplior is yellower, the hindwing more strongly marked.

Geographical range. Sri Lanka; N.E. Himalaya, Tonkiin (ssp. laetifica); Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo (ssp. kinabalensis).

Habitat preference. The species is uncommon, recorded between 1620m and 2110m on G. Kinabalu only.
