Cleora onycha Fletcher; Holloway, 1976: 81.
Diagnosis. This
species and C. tenebrata have the ground colour more strongly suffused
with brownish grey than others of the Carecomotis group, giving a more
uniform dull brown-grey appearance. In onycha the discal spots are less
prominent and the pale spot at the centre of the forewing margin much more so.
Taxonomic notes. Fletcher
(1953) also includes description of numerous subspecies.
Geographical
range. N.E.
Himalaya to Lesser Sundas and New Guinea.
Habitat
preference. Few
specimens have been taken in recent surveys: three at low altitudes in the G.
Mulu National Park in forest on limestone and in regenerating alluvial forest;
one at 1930m on G. Kinabalu.
