Diagnosis. The facies resemble that of E. fimbripedata but is more
contrastedly marked. The submarginals are prominent, zig-zag, often with a
greyish suffusion basad that fades towards the postmedial. On the hindwing the
straight medial bar, discal spot and postmedial are strongly defined with dark
brown but separated mostly by pale ground colour rather than the brownish
suffusion of fimbripedata.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The majority of records have been from areas of swamp
or heath forest in the lowlands, e.g. dry heath forest at Telisai and swamp
forest at Badas in Brunei, and wet heath forest on river terraces west of the
Melinau Gorge in Sarawak.
