Prochasma scissivestis
Prout, 1926, Sarawak Mus. J., 3: 205.
Prochasma
scissivestis (holotype)
|
Diagnosis. The ground colour is white, speckled and fasciated with dark dull brown,
more intensely on the forewing than on the hindwing. On the forewing the
submarginal is evident as a fine white zig-zag.
Taxonomic notes. Placement of this species in Prochasma needs confirmation, as
unfortunately all male specimens have lost their abdomens. The female genitalia
have the ovipositor lobes more setose, less darkly sclerotised. The neck of the
bursa is long, narrow, flimsy, without sclerotisation. There is no signum.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. All four specimens seen are from the upper montane
zone between 1500m and 2000m. Records are from G. Murud, Sarawak (the type
locality), and G. Kinabalu.
