Heterostegane insulata
(Java)

Diagnosis.
See H. warreni above.

Taxonomic notes. The taxa kuehni and insulata both occur in New Guinea and have identical male and female genitalia. The former is probably merely a form of the latter, having the facies extensively clouded with pinkish grey. It is therefore brought into synonymy. The Philippines taxon retessellata, represented only by males, and a Javanese female have genitalia as in insulata hence are also considered conspecific.

Geographical range. New Guinea, Key Is., Dammer, Larat, Seram, Sulawesi. Philippines, Java, Bali, Borneo.

Habitat preference. A specimen has been taken in a lowland softwood plantation in Sabah by Mr Chey Vun Khen.
