Fascellina viridicosta sp. n.
15-16mm. This species is close in appearance to subsignata and inconspicua
but has a more vinous tinge to the wings that lacks any silvery flecking (a
feature of inconspicua), and with the green on the forewing more clearly
restricted to a narrow costal zone, expanded slightly towards the apex. The
course of the forewing postmedial is more as in subsignata, particularly
on the underside, but the ground colour below is reddish-orange as in inconspicua.
The male genitalia have the furca much as in subsignata but the right
arm is irregularly curved. The gnathus is relatively longer.

Geographical range. Borneo, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia (FRIM
collection).
Habitat preference. The species is possibly associated with heath forest,
as Santubong is in an area of such vegetation near Bako National Park.
