Celenna
callopistes Prout comb. n.
Hypochrosis callopistes Prout,
1932, J. fed. Malay States Mus., 17: 85.
Diagnosis. The forewing apex is less acute than in the first two species and the
forewing green band is entire, duller in tint; there is no green patch on the
hindwing.
Taxonomic notes. The species has a sister-relationship to the Himalayan C. pulchraria Rothschild
comb. n., a larger species with a more strongly marked hindwing and a more
lens-shaped forewing band. The furca is symmetric in pulchraria, each arm
half the length of the long left arm of callopistes.
Geographical range. Borneo, Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, S. Burma.
Habitat preference. Two specimens were taken during the Mulu survey in
the understorey of alluvial forest at the foot of a limestone outcrop. The
species is rare.
