Lignispalta viridaria Swinhoe comb. n.
Stictoptera viridaria Swinhoe, 1902, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7), 9:172.
Prospalta viridaria Swinhoe; Holloway, 1976:14.
Diagnosis.
This is the
smallest of the three species, of similar shape and build to its congeners, and
with generally similar facies, though lacking the pale apex to the forewing. The
reniform is oblique, distally excavate somewhat as in incertissima but
without the small pale rectangle. The dorsum is diagnostically broadly green.
Taxonomic
notes. This
species is more tentatively assigned to the genus. The male genitalia have
rather reduced valves that are apically bifid and lack a harpe. The aedeagus
vesica has several irregular arrays of moderate spines. The eighth segment lacks
the modifications of the type species.
Geographical
range. Peninsular
Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat
preference. Only
two specimens have been taken in Borneo, one at 1620m on G. Kinabalu, and one in
upper montane forest at 1790m on G. Mulu.
