SUBFAMILY AEDIINAE

Ecpatia lingulata sp. n. (Plate 2, Fig 79)

GG 12‑13mm. The forewing is as in ovifera but with the discal part of the medial zone more extensively whitened, separated from the blacker dorsal part by a sharp, straight boundary. The two striae at the marginal angle are conspicuous, short. The male genitalia are similar to those of previous species except the tegumen is relatively short, the peniculus lobes slightly extended, tongue‑like, downflexed. The valves are relatively small, flexed upwards at the point of constriction. The aedeagus vesica is similar to that of obscura, but the aedeagus is smaller.

Holotype G. BRUNEI: 30‑60m, Labi, lowland forest and secondary veg. 2.6.1978 (Lt. Col. M.G. Allen), BM noctuid slide 17973.

Paratypes: 1G (slide 10755) as holotype but 28.7.79; 1G (slide 10748) SARAWAK: Gunong Mulu Nat. Park, R.G.S. Exped. 1977-8 (J.D.Holloway et al.), Site 16, March, Long Pala (Base), 70m, 324450, alluv.  /  second. for.

Geographical range. Borneo.

Habitat preference. All material is from lowland forest.
