Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus.,

Maliattha stolasa Swinhoe, 1905, Ann.
Mag. nat. Hist. (7), 15: 154.
Diagnosis. The forewings are golden brown with
darker shading and whitish highlights, the latter lining the postmedial and
antemedial fasciae at their costal and dorsal ends and occurring on the distal
margin centrally. The two fasciae are strongly curved, concave basad, and the
area basal to the antemedial is paler than the rest of the wing.
Geographical range. Indian Subregion, Borneo, Java.
Habitat preference. The species was described from material collected by
A.R. Wallace in Sarawak, probably in the lowlands. There is a specimen also from Pulo Laut. The
only recently collected specimens are a singleton from secondary forest at
Semongok in the lowlands of Sarawak near Kuching, six (two retained) from
primary forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre in Sabah (S.J.
Willott, unpublished data) and five taken in softwood plantations near Brumas
in the lowlands of Sabah (Chey, 1994).
