Diagnosis. The forewing is relatively uniform and of a more rufous tone than in
Bornean congeners; there is sometimes a narrow orange marking medially on the
dorsum.
Geographical range. Oriental tropics and eastwards to New Guinea.
Habitat preference. The species is most frequently taken in upper montane
forest from about 1500 to over 2000m. It has been found thus on G. Kinabalu in
Sabah, G. Mulu in Sarawak, and Bukit Retak and Bukit Pagon in Brunei. It is also
found less frequently in a range of lowland forest types: hill dipterocarp,
alluvial and dry heath (kerangas) forest.
