Diagnosis. This small dark brown species is variable, sometimes with the forewing
basal zone darker and the medial zone paler than the distal zone, and with the
reniform sometimes and, tornally and apically, the marginal and submarginal
zones always marked with grey or white. The angle (chevron) of the postmedial at
the reniform is much less acute than in albiceps which also has the
medial fascia more oblique and buff zones distally on the wing. The species
differs from scelerata Holland as stated in the account of that species
below.
Taxonomic note. This species and the next two belong to the Euteliella Roepke
group as discussed in the generic description. The type species. eriopoides Roepke,
flies in Sulawesi.
Geographical range. Oriental tropics to Sundaland, Philippines, Sulawesi,
with apparently outlying populations in the islands south east of New Guinea and
Manus I. in the Bismarck group.
Habitat preference. Two specimens have been taken in lowland forest in
Brunei, at Ulu Temburong and Labi, and one in upper montane forest on Bukit
Retak.
