Diagnosis.
The facies is similar to that of hemiphaea except the paler basal zone of the marginal area of
the forewing is more distinctly mauve, and this is streaked more strongly into
the darker distal part. The reniform is more triangular and is conspicuous in
both sexes, as the female has the basal half of the wing much darker than in hemiphaea.
The blue band of the female hindwing is generally broader than in hemiphaea;
this difference is not evident in males.
Geographical
range. Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat
preference. The species is infrequent in forested localities from the
lowlands to the upper montane zone at around 1800m.
