Ischyja
subreducta sp. n.
44-47mm, 50-52mm. This species is similar to marapok,
but larger, the forewing having a darker, more purplish tint. The hindwing blue
band is distinctly broader on the upperside, but reduced to a few spots and
chevrons on the underside. The forewing band is also barely evident on the
underside. The females are like larger versions of those of marapok but
with blue band of the hindwing upperside broader; those of the underside are
more evident than in the male but of more even width than in marapok.
The male genitalia are very similar to those of manlia.
One specimen has a green suffusion from the distal edge of the medial loop on
the dorsum that extends into the marginal zone, as in the holotype of gynnis
Prout
described below.

Geographical
range. Borneo.
Habitat
preference. The species is probably more montane than marapok,
though one specimen was taken in lowland dipterocarp forest.
